Shell Lake Hike 6/26/21

Off on our journey to Shell Lake. Z provides a watchful eye as everyone else makes it up the hill.
A quick cross-country jaunt leads to an old road and trail to Bennettville.
Sierra stonecrop.
Grandpa leads the way.
Kingston, Colin & Z work hard to keep up.
Mt. Dana with unnamed pond in the foreground.
There's a shrimp-like scud in the top right-center.
Colin captures some ducklings (out of frame).
Winds were strong at times in January.
Lupine!
Columbine!
More Lupine along the trail!
Kingston thought this wet rock looked pretty.
So many cameras, so few birds.
Z takes a snack break on the glaciated metamorphic rocks that make up the roof pendant here.
Bennetteville mine tailings.
Creek springing from the adit of the old mine workings was a great place to catch our breath and snack.
Just your average 130yo mining equipment. There's also an old "widowmaker" drill in the adit.
Z stands on the widowmaker drill. Colin pays close attention.
Foooooooooolds!
