Mosaic Canyon 2/20/23

The last morning brought us up Mosaic Canyon to experience the wonders of a slot canyon carved through the Noonday Dolomite.
The carbonate-rich dolomite bonded the clasts very strongly, which were subsequently down-cut and polished by later flood events.

This angle shows an ancient drainage of Mosaic Canyon that had been filled-in with alluvium now being cross-cut by a new meander.
