| At the end of this lonely road lies a tremendous amount of evidence for the Yavapai Mazatzal Orogeny that was seen in the lecture. The main mountain is mostly gneiss that has been intruded by younger granites. We can date the gneiss to 1.7 BY! But remember, the gneiss schist was most likely a mudstone before it was metamorphosed. What could have possibly created the pressures to make a mountain of gneiss this big? |
