| So here's the other weird part about the Pahrump Grp: the rocks from the group just vanish along a straight line, about where my wige is standing. Where's the rest of the rocks you may ask? You'll find those on Australia and Antarctica when all three of these continents were part of Rodinia. The rest of the rocks rifted when Rodinia split leaving behind this portion of the failed rift into which the dropstones were dropped. You can term this area of Death Valley an aulocogen, a failed rift, very similar to the Great Rift Valley in modern Africa. This was all happening in the late proterozoic. |
