_DSC0221.JPG - One can really see the welling water in this photo. One other tidbit of note. In the late 60's & early 70's this area was slated to be drained and developed into a community of 30,000 homes. But pumping of the aquifer drained the water elevation at Devils Hole (the next set of photos) and endangered the Devils Hole pupfish. The Endangered Species Act prevailed, and the area is now protected and invites over 50,000 visitors per year.
