  RJH_7913.JPG - A great view of the Pahrump Group of proterozoic rocks. These sediments were deposited in a failed rift valley (aulacogen) between 1.2by and 700 million years ago. These are amazingly the oldest sedimentary rocks in the park and actually contain dropstones from the bottom icebergs that were depositied onto a seafloor near the equator during a "Snowball Earth" period in Earth's History.
