The Chewing Gum Lake trail is wildflower show spectacular, once one enters Lake Valley. Tremendously showy blooms of lupine, indian paintbrush, wandering daisies and many more flowers make this hike a must see. Chewing Gum Lake was quite nice and peaceful, but aggressive mosquitoes and an absence of fish made our stay a bit shorter than I had hoped. There were quite a few large tadpoles in the lake, which leads me to believe that the brook trout that once called this lake home are completely gone. |
