Description of Bear Lake from Crabtree Camp:
The scenery on this stroll takes one's mind off the many slight inclines along the hike. The majority of the hike treks atop the breccia precipice that overlooks Pine Valley to the south, and gives amazing views. Many stream-hops and abundant mountain corn-lillies strewn amongst mini-meadows overshadowed by amazing granite walls and boulders make this hike a never-ending aesthetic treat. Camp Lake is barren of fish, but Bear purportedly holds a descent population of rainbows to 16" and beyond. I wouldn't know. I got skunked, as is often the case when fishing in the middle of the day during the middle of the summer. I'll be back with my trail boat one day to seek redemption!
