| This fence was offset nearly 20 feet during the great 1906 Earthquake. The San Andreas cuts right across the fence where the students are standing. Note the fence on the far side of the fault appears to have moved to the right. Thus, we term the fault a right-lateral strike-slip (transverse) fault. |
