Rim Fire Smoke

Smokey Views on our drive from Turlock to Twain Harte Cabin to gather a few family photos, just in case the Rim Fire decides to jump 108.
RJH9483 RJH9495 Encountered first smoke just past HWY 108/120 junction. RJH9497 Skies near Sonora. School was cancelled in Sonora on Monday 8/26 due to the smoke. RJH9501 Under the new HWY 108 viaduct.
RJH9502 Smoke was thicker near Soulsbyville. RJH9504 On normal days, the climb of Soulsbyville grade would be easy to see. Here, 200m visibility is pushing the limits of sanity. RJH9508 Turn-off to Twain Harte. RJH9516 The smoke hadn't quite settled into Twain Harte to badly.
RJH9518 The Laffin Cabbin in a diffused, hazy light. RJH9529 Ash particles on the front deck. RJH9538 Zephyr was only exposed to the air for a few brief minutes as we gathered the family photos. RJH9542 All the ash on our brand new deck.
RJH9543 Mom and Z look at the smoke and ash. RJH9546 RJH9549 The pyrocumulus clouds as seen from Oakdale. RJH9550 20 minutes laterthe clouds/smoke had exploded into a huge, roiling mass. Seen from Santa Fe & Berkeley roads north of Turlock.
RJH9487 We'll end with a week-old photo of Zephyr eating peaches. RJH9491
