Mrs. H and I have made a habit in the last few years of going to the highest areas of the Sierra still open to hiking near and around Yosemite right before the passes close for the season. This year we were able to bring my folks along to share the splendor of a partly cloudy, sometimes snow-showery and somewhat chilly November day atop the crest of the Sierra Nevada. Since everyone was fighting off an illness, hiking was kept to a brief 3.5 miles round trip to allow for proper gawking at the scenery. At over 10,000’, this hike will get the lungs flaming in no time! Enjoy the photos as much as we enjoyed the hike. And it looks like the pass will close for good one day after these photos were taken. |
