| The clouds were the star of this hike. Lenticular clouds are common on the eastern sierra's where the atmosphere undulates (moves up & down) quite rapidly. The peaks of the undulating waves force air up, which cools it and causes the clouds to form. The troughs of the moving waves are cloud free since the air is sinking and warming there. |
