| Mrs H digs the hornblende. The rocks in this wash are the roots of a mountain range created by a continental-continental collision about 1.8 billion years ago. The results of the Yavapai-Mazatzal orogony was a mount chain that stretched from So. Cal to Georgia and probably reached heights comparable to the modern Himalayas. |
