We decided to take advantage of a disturbingly commonplace beautiful January day by boating across Lake McSwain and then exploring some of the old mine tailings. With recent heavy releases into McSwain from McClure, the lake was murky and the fishing was poor. But the wildlife viewing was in top form. We saw two bald eagles, three osprey, several species of ducks and some ravens. I know the 65 degree weather now is going to make for a painfully dry summer, but one might as well enjoy what we have now and keep one eye on the future. |
